OBITUARY:
DEATH CLAIMS ROBT. HACKIT.
Robert Hackit, 75, died at his home in this city at and early hour Tuesday morning. He had been an asthmatic sufferer for a long time, which caused his death and which had not been unexpected for several days.
Robert Hackit was born in Airdrie, Scotland, in January, 1857. The family came to America when he was 15 years old, settling in Pennsylvania, and later working their way west. They resided in Illinois, South Dakota, eastern Washington and came to Oregon in 1915, where he and his sister, Miss Ellen Hackit, bought land near Brooks, farming it until about a year ago when they sold it and bought a home in Gervais.
Mr. Hackit never married, and his friends were all who knew him. Two brothers and two sisters survive. They are: John of Seattle and Stewart of Dos Palos, Calif., Miss Ellen of Gervais, and Mrs. Anna Hasleu of Mason City, Iowa. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge of Colfax, Wash.
Funeral services were held at the local Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Granous officiating, and burial took place in Pioneer cemetery.
