OBITUARY:
Barbara Harris (Penny) Jones died in her home, with her family, Wednesday afternoon, November 14.
Penny was born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington. She spent her growing years in the Columbia River Gorge. Penny met Ron Jones while working as a bacteriologist at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. They were married in 1952, and loved each other through 55 years together, raising their family. Penny enjoyed living and raising her family in the Salem area, and contributed often to community causes too numerous to list. She was a strong and committed woman. Penny and Ron lived their lives with humor, passion, and great appreciation of all that it offered. Ron predeceased Penny, November 28, 2006. The family would like to thank the many close friends for their love and support, without which neither Penny, nor they, could have gotten through the last year. You are what made the lives of Penny and Ron so wonderful.
Penny is survived by her children Jeffry Alan Jones and wife, Elizabeth Ann Jones of Portland, Leslie Jones Brame, married to Randy Brame and living in Durham, NC, Sydney Jones Hammerquist and husband Fred, who live in Seattle, Washington; and four grandchildren, Bailey Brame, Alan Brame, Jeffry Hammerquist, and Natalie Hammerquist.
