OBITUARY: At the residence of her son, near Gervais, March 20, 1885, Mrs. Sarah Ringo, in her 87th years.
Mrs. Ringo, whose maiden name was Sarah Hodge, was born in Montgomery Co., Ky., October 19th, 1798. Untied in marriage with Robert Rongo, at the age of twenty; came west and settled in Missouri in 1821. She was the mother of five children, three girls and two boys. Came to Oregon across the plains, in 1851, and has since lived with her sons. Funeral sermon was preached by Rev. D. M. Keene, at the residence. The remains were followed to the cemetery by a large concourse of relatives and friends.
"We saw not the angels who met her there,
The gates of the city we could not see;
Over the river, on the eternal shore,
My mother stands waiting to welcome me"
