OBITUARY:
Glen Henry Hitchcock - January 1, 1924 June 12, 2010 SALEM - Glen passed away in Salem last Saturday of natural causes. Born in Denton, Montana on New Year's Day 1924, son of Ralph and Esther (Holdeman) Hitchcock, Glen grew up in Montana while his dad worked on ranches and WPA projects including construction of the Fort Peck Dam. After high school, Glen enlisted in the army and served in Germany during WWII with the 20th Armored Division. After returning home, Glen attended Montana State College where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Husbandry (1950). While at MSC, Glen met Patricia M. Standish and they married on September 10, 1950. Following their marriage, Glen and Pat moved to Corvallis, Oregon where Glen continued his education as a graduate student at Oregon State College. After receiving his Master's Degree in 1952, he was employed by the State of Oregon, first at Morningside Hospital in Portland and later as a statistician for the Mental Health Division in Salem. Glen and Pat enjoyed an active retirement on their five acre ranch in East Salem. Together, Glen and Pat were active in the local horse community; Pat participated in pleasure driving and combined driving events with her beloved Morgan horse "Monte" with Glen as an ever present assistant and supporter. Glen was preceded in death by his wife Pat in December of 2008. He is survived by his sons, Philip of Salem and Jeffrey of San Diego; brothers, Jack, Ray, Dennis; and sister, Jeanette. The family would like to thank the staff of Meadow Creek Assisted Living Residence for their kind and professional care.
