OBITUARY:
At his residence at Turner, Oregon, Wednesday, April 11, 1900, at 6 p.m., Ira B. Pearce, aged 81 years, 3 months, and 25 days.
Ira B. Pearce was born at Oved [Ovid], N. Y. in 1818. When he was one year old his parents moved to Ohio, where he passed his youth and learned the blacksmith trade. From Ohio he moved to Indiana, where, in 1842, he met and married Miss Mary Perrin, sister of the late Caleb Perrin, of Fossil, Gilliam county. The next year he moved to Iowa, where he resided until 1850, when he crossed the plains to California, and later, to Oregon. Three years later he returned to Iowa, where he continued to reside until 1863, when he went to Idaho. The next year he came to Oregon, settling near Turner, where he resided until his death.
While in Iowa eight children were born to the family of which 4 are still living, the eldest being Mrs. John J. Barnett of Turner, Oregon. The others are: Mrs. J.M.M. Wood and George H. Pearce, of Turner, and Ira Pearce, of San Pedro, California.
Deceased was never a member of any church, but was a faithful believer of Universalism from his boyhood up. The funeral services will be held at the family home in Turner, at 10 o’clock this morning.
