Statesman Journal 8 Jan 2010

Bobbie Lee Hunter, 71, of Woodburn, passed away, Jan. 6, 2010, in Woodburn.
Bob was born April 23, 1938, in Hailey, Idaho, to Roland and Betty Hunter.
He married Sharon Irene Brown Aug. 28, 1957. They made their home in Idaho where he worked as a miner.
In 1964 Bob and Sharon and their four daughters moved to Gold Beach. He worked at the U.S. Plywood Mill, later known as Champion Plywood, where he began his career as an oiler and millwright. He later went back to school to become an electrician. At 45, Bob gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. Though he did not attend church regularly, his commitment was real and he never failed to pray daily for those he loved.
After raising their family, Bob and Sharon moved to the Portland area where he worked as an electrical supervisor for Avison in Molla.
He retired at the age of 65. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, winter trips to Arizona, and visiting with family.
Bob was very active in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Bob will be remembered for focusing on what’s really important in life: providing for his family and helping others.
He always said, it is not all the wealth you have accumulated in your lifetime, it is not all the material things you have surrounded yourself with but, in the end, it is the love of all the people that you have touched that remains behind.
Bobbie Lee Hunter will be remembered for the respect and love that now shines in the hearts of all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Sharon Hunter of Woodburn; daughters Belinda and husband Garth Rylands of Newburg, Tammie and husband Gene Anderson of Tualatin, Betty Hunter of Salem, Robin and husband Bob Snazuk of Gold Beach; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters. He also leaves behind his beloved basset hound Mollie Sue.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, 605 Commercial St., S.E., in Salem. 503-364-2257.
