Oregon, and D., age 3 m’s. Also enumerated with the family is Jos. Mason, age 29, occupation farm laborer, b. Azores Island.
1870 OR CENSUS - Malcom J. Harding, age 15, b. Oregon, is enumerated with father B. F., age 47, occupation farmer, b. Pennsylvania, and S. M., (female), age 39, b. Michigan, along with Fanny, age 17, b. Oregon, Ella, age 11, b. Oregon,and Dan'l, age 10, b. Oregon. Also enumerated with the family is Stephen Lucier, age 23, occupation laborer, b. Oregon.
[NOTE Eliza Cox Harding is buried at Cox Cemetery in Marion Co., along with her children Adelia and Elizabeth Harding; and Benjamin F. Harding is buried at Cottage Grove Cemetery in Lane Co., Oregon.]
OBITUARY: 
At the residence of his father, near Fairfield, February 3rd, Malcom J. Harding, oldest son of Hon. B. F. Harding, aged 17 years. The funeral will take place at the family resident to day. The death of Young Harding is the result of the gun shot wound received some weeks since by accident at the hands of a Frenchman who was intoxicated at the time. The blow must be a very sad event for the family and they will receive the sincere sympathy of many friends.
