OBITUARY:
GERVAIS—Joyce Revanell Hammond, 51, died Thursday in Stayton.
She was born in Clinton, S.C., and came to Oregon with her parents in 1953. She graduated from Cascade High School in 1960.
She married Bill R. Hammond on July 14, 1960, in Henderson, N.C., and lived in Greenville, S.C., before settling in Gervais for the past 27 years.
She had a license to be a mechanic, a beautician and a cosmetologist, and she enjoyed flower arranging and cake decorating. She ran businesses in real estate, auto sales, hair salons, gas stations and furniture sales She was a homemaker and member of the Brooks Assembly of God church. Survivors include her husband; son, Randy “Billy” R. Jr. of Gervais; daughter, Debbie Crow of Lyons; parents, Henry and Alice Stewart of Gervais; sisters, Judy Nicholas of Stayton and Sandra Poole of Brooks; brother Charles Stewart of Gervais; and two grandchildren.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday in the church.
Interment will be in Fairfield Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell mortuary, Woodburn.
