1930 OR CENSUS - Bruce Short, age 2, b. Oregon, is enumerated with father R. T., age 40, married at age 25, occupation farmer, b. Idaho, and mother Edna, age 38, married at age 23, b. Oregon, along with Vera, age 12, John, age 11, Norma, age 9, Iva, age 7, and Marie, age 4, all born in Oregon.

OBITUARY: 
CANBY - Bruce W. Short, 69, of Canby, died Aug. 10, in a Tualatin hospital. He was born at Mill City on July 11, 1927, and moved to Marthaler homestead mear Gervais with his family when he was 4 years old. He graduated from Gervais High School and earned an associates degree in criminology and sociology at Monmouth. When he was 17, he joined the Merchant Marines and later joined the Army, serving during the Korean War. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., and was a military policeman. He married Florence T. Hall on Sept. 2, 1950, at Woodburn. He lived near Canby for the last 21 years.
He worked in the logging industry as a sawyer and topping trees. He also worked for the state corrections department for 27 years, and was a parole and probation officer from 1974 until retirement in 1983. Survivors include his wife; daughters Sherrie Eggebraten of Milton, Wash., Georgia Hanson of Oregon City, and MArsha Short-Webb of Dripping Springs, Texas; sisters Vera Olson of Keizer, and Marie Glascock of Salem; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 15, at Zoar Lutheran Church at Canby. Interment will follow at Fairfield Cemetery near Gervais. Arrangements are by Canby Funeral Chapel.
