Elizabeth M. “Betty” Uebelman, 81, of Salem died Saturday in Salem.
She was born in Frank, Alberta, Canada, and came to Salem as a child. She married James Uebelman on March 1, 1928, in Salem, and the couple operated Jim’s Shoe Service for many years. She was a clerk.
Her hobbies included cooking and gardening. Her husband died previously.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn M. Johnson, and son, James Jr., both of Salem; brother, William Schmidt of Estacada; sisters, Jennie Metcalfe of Turner and Katherine Ricks of Jefferson; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
At her request, no services will be held. Private family interment will be in Marion Cemetery. Visiting will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen mortuary, Salem.
Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
