1850 IL CENSUS - Moses Smith, age 15, b. New York, is enumerated with Aaron A. Smith, age 51, farmer, b. New York, and Nancy, age 48, b. Rhode Island, along with Hazzard, age 19, Catharine, age 17, Nancy, age 13, Almira, age 11, Almena, age 11, Jerusha, age 9, all born in New York, and Phebe, age 7, b. Illinois.
MARRIAGE – “Moses M. Smith & Mary C. Evans, m 25 Dec 1862; David Simpson J. P. Wit: William Logan & G. W. Downing #613 pg 193”
NOTE - Moses Smith's widow, Mary C., later married George S. Downing [in 1867], who was the widower of her sister, Missouri. Mary is buried at Anderson Lone Fir Cemetery.]
NOTE - Moses M. Smith was the witness at marriage between Almira Smith [sister of Moses] and C. B. Parker 11 months after his own marriage, and was also a witness to the marriage of his widowed brother-in-law, James D. Brown, for his marriage to his [James'] dead wife’s younger sister, Phebe – “James. D. Brown & Phebe A. Smith, m 28 Jan 1864 at house of & by John F. Denny, M. G. Wit: Moses M. Smith & Luther U. White #684 pg 223" (Source - Marriage Records of Marion Co., Oregon 1849-1871, Vol I, pg 41)
OBITUARY: 
Died – Of consumption, Moses M. Smith. He emigrated to Oregon in 1860, and for the last five years resided near Sublimity. He was a good and useful citizen; he joined the M. E. church a few months past, engaged earnestly preparing for death; he arranged his business affairs, sought and found the Lord, and on the 25th of October departed this life in peace. Bro. Smith leaves a wife and one child and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their bereavement.
