SILVERTON BOY DROWNED IN OLD BREWER MILL POND
Silverton, Or., Aug. 12 - Willard, the 7 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Fix [Fox], who live near this city, was drowned in the old Brewer millpong Saturday.
Mrs. Fox had gone to the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. A. Doerfler, to spend the day and was prevailednupon to remain all night. Shortly adfter she left home the boy went to the pond to play. He was alone at the time and the exact manner in which he met death is not known.
Little was thought of his absence for some time, those at home supposing that he had gone away for a while with other boys, which he had done before. When night came and he failed to return, he was supposed to have gone to Mr. Doerfler's place to spend the night with his mother.
When morning came it was soon learned that the boy was lost. The search was started in the pond, where the boy was found.
Funeral services were held at the home of the parents Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Spencer officiating. Interment was made in Lewis Cemetery.
