OBITUARY: 
Silverton – Charles Mulkey, a Silverton native and lifelong resident of the Silverton area, died Friday in a Silverton hospital at the age of 80.
He had been hospitalized since an auto accident on Silver Falls Highway last week, but Dr. John R. Christopher, Salem pathologist, said an autopsy shows cause of death was a tubercular condition not related to the accident.
Mulkey farmed here most of his life. He resided at Silverton Star Route, Box 13.
He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Janet Hannan, Mount Angel; one son Harold, Boise, Idaho; three grandchildren; six brothers, Eldon, Ralph, James, and Arthur, all of Silverton, Chester, Salem, and Leland, California; one sisters, Mrs. Terzah Warnock, Sublimity.
Arrangements are pending at Ekman-Unger mortuary.

Charles Mulkey Dies Nine Days After Accident – Charles P. Mulkey, who had lived in the Silverton area all of his life, died Friday morning at the Silverton Hospital, where he had been for nine days following a car accident.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ekman-Unger Funeral Chapel with Rev. Edward Kenagy officiating.
Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery in the Waldo Hills District.
Mr. Mulkey, who resided at Star Route, Box 13, was a retired farmer. He was born in the Silver Cliff District July 2, 1891, as the eldest of the eight children of Mr. and Mrs. Mac Mulkey.
For years his violin playing delighted his neighbors and folks at social events.
Survivors include a son, Harold, of Boise, Ida.; a daughter, Mrs. Janet Hannan, of Rt. 1, Mt. Angel; and three grandchildren; also six brothers, Arthur, Eldon, Ralph, and James of Silverton; Chester of Salem and Leland in California; and one sister, Mrs. Tirzah Warnock of Sublimity.
Pallbearers were Floyd Mulkey, Virgil Tschantz, Victor Hadley, Rolfe Bentson, William Krenz, and Glenn Laundree. (Source - Scrapbook in Silverton Library)
