OBITUARY: 
Mount Angel – Frank A. Riches, 86, of Mount Angel Towers, died Wednesday.
He was born in North Powder (Union County). A cattle rancher and longtime resident of the Yakima area, he was active in the Inland Empire Hereford Breeders Association of Washington and a former beef superintendent at the Pacific International Livestock Exposition, judged beef cattle in a number of areas in the Pacific Northwest, served on the Washington State Fair Board for 34 years, and in 1956 was named Washington State Cattleman of the year. He came here two years ago. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Masons and the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his brothers, C. Robert and Theodore, both of Silverton; and sister, Winifred Riches, Mount Angel.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Unger Mortuary, Silverton. Private interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery there.
