Funeral services were Thursday afternoon at Rigdon Funeral Home in Salem. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Waldo Hills.
Mr. Currie was born Dec. 22, 1875 in Shedd, Ore. He married Gertrude Hibbard about 1900 and they lived in Walla Walla, Wash., and Portland before coming to the Hibbard farm in Waldo Hills where they built the home now owned by the Helmer Brokkes. The Curries had three children, Helen, John, and Julia.
He was employed for many years as a salesman for several paint companies. For several years he made his home with his daughter, Julia, since he was in ill health, being confined to his bed for the past year. He was preceded in death by Mrs. Currie in 1946 and also by son John in 1961. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Alm, Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Julia Whalley, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Judy Flemming, and three great grandchildren. Source: Scrapbook in Silverton Library, probably from Silverton Appeal, date and page not given.
