OBITUARY:
Death of Mrs. Emily Miller – Prominent Woman of Waldo Hills Settlement Ends Life Work and Goes to Her Reward – In the death of Mrs. Emily Miller, in the Waldo Hills, yesterday, another of Oregon’s pioneers of 1852 has passed on to join the great majority of pathfinders who have gone before. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Layfayette L. C. Cavanaugh, near Turner, at an early hour yesterday morning. She was born in Illinois, June 14, 1834, thus making her almost 73 years of age. She was a member of the Baptist church, and a devoted Christian, with many beauties of character, and in the closing hours of her life expressed the belief that Heaven awaited her.
The following four children are left to mourn her loss: F. M. Miller, of Victor Point, with whom she made her home; Mrs. L. C. Cavanaugh, of Turner; Mrs. Belle Phelps, of Silverton; and Mrs. Emma Brown, of San Francisco.
The funeral will be held from the Waldo Hills Baptist church tomorrow at 2 p.m., and the services will be conducted by the Rev. H. T. Babcock of the First Presbyterian church of Salem. Interment will be made at the Henry Warren [Mt. Hope] Cemetery.
