OBITUARY:
In Salem at the family home, corner of High and Union Streets, Friday, December 18, 1896, Jay Steadman, age 11 years.
Deceased was the son of Mrs. Effie Belle Pooler Steadman, who was formerly employed in the Home Bakery on Commercial Street. His death was caused by scarlet fever, having been ill with it several days. The remains will be conveyed to Mt. Hope Cemetery, twelve miles east of Salem, this forenoon, the funeral cortege leaving the residence at 9 o’clock.
