SALEM - Janice E. Schmidt, 67, died Tuesday. She was born in Derby, Iowa, and was a licensed practical nurse at Salem General Hospital.
She married Dale C. Schmidt on July 14, 1961 in Stevenson, Wash., and was co-owner and operator of Macleay Country Inn & Store from 1972 until 1984.
Janice was an honorary board member of Parrish Little League Foundation and a member of Anna Marie Pittman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her hobbies included genealogy and travel.
Survivors include her husband, Dale C. Schmidt of Salem; daughter, Debbie (Schmidt) Delaney of Beaverton; sons, David, Troy and Doug Schmidt, all of Salem; brothers, Charles Morris Jr. of Seattle, Wash., and Lyle Morris of California; sisters, Charlotte Bibler of Salem and Carolyn Dustman of Albany; grandchildren, Michael, Aaron, Stephanie, Christopher, Shelby and Hailey Delaney; Halee and Morgan Schmidt, Danielle and Renae Schmidt, and Tabitha and Katelynn Schmidt.
Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. today at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service in Salem. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, State Street and 119th in Salem.
