Phillip A.‘Tony’ Carnine

SALEM - Phillip A. ‘Tony’ Carnine died Monday. He was born in Weiser, Idaho.
He moved to Salem in 1949 and graduated from South Salem High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and married Pat Etzel in 1957. He served as an Aircraft Mechanic in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Guam. Tony retired in 1976 as a Tech Sergeant. Returning to Salem, he worked for the East Salem Water District and FebCo, and later for Senvoy Co. He enjoyed casinos, country music, Western movies, having coffee with the guys, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a 25-year member of the Silverton Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Carnine, sons, Bruce and Rob, and daughter, Jackie Hamm, all of Salem; brother, Larry of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visiting will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Unger Funeral Chapel, 229 Mill St. in Silverton. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Salem. Contributions may be made to the Silverton Elks Lodge Veterans Fund.
