OBITUARY: OREGON CITY — Carl Becken, 61, died Sunday of cancer.
Born and raised in Silverton, he graduated from Silverton Union High School in 1957.
He served in the Air Force from 1958 until 1967 when he moved to Astoria.
He was a custodian for St. Mary’s Hospital in Astoria, Mayflower van lines, and Tetronics in Beaverton.
He was later a mechanic for Tri-Met in Portland until recently retiring.
He was a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed hunting and making ammunition.
Survivors include his wife, Carroll, whom he married in 1975; daughters, Joy Becken of Seattle, Jessica Becken of Oregon City, Susie and and Sherrie; sisters, Ilena Sprague of Beaverton and Joyce Fergeson of Astoria; and brother, Marvin of Astoria.
Visiting will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Oregon City Evangelical Church, where he was a member. Interment will be private at Mount Hope Cemetery, Salem.
